The Goal
To help adults and children become true disciples of Jesus Christ by building relationships with them, being examples for them, and teaching them God’s Word.
St. John’s members are constantly striving “to know Christ … and … to make Christ known.” One of the most important ways we learn about our Lord Jesus is through the Christian education program. Both young and old alike gather on Sunday mornings, and at other times throughout the week, to learn about God’s love and His gift of a Savior. Our Sunday School year runs from September through May.
On Sunday mornings, education classes are offered from age three through adult. In those classes, students are learning and discussing Bible stories that are both familiar and unfamiliar. Additionally, children through the seventh grade are learning the songs of our faith and liturgy. Young people in grades six and seven are attending confirmation classes as they prepare to publicly profess their faith in Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior.
Our adults also have the opportunity to attend Sunday School. Classes are topically oriented with a single topic being studied and discussed for periods of 6 – 8 weeks.
Some of our great Sunday School activities for children occurring throughout the year include the Children’s Christmas Program, Christmas caroling at the Canterbury House, the Easter Egg Hunt, activities of fellowship at lock-ins, along with swimming and boating outings.
Come join us anytime for Christian Education as we are learning about God’s gift of a Savior so we may share our Savior with the world. If you have any questions, please call the church office (843-723-2426).
